Brown Bag Lecture on "Research on Acid Mine Drainage on Morris Creek: Effects and Treatment Options"
by Deborah Beutler, WVU Tech Associate Professor of Biology
Since 2009, my students and I have been documenting the effects of acid mine drainage (AMD) and two treatment options on Morris Creek.
We documented the failure of the treatment systems just 3 years after they were built.
We also documented the effects of AMD on the macro-invertebrates living in the stream. I will discuss two treatment options that are being tested.
