Cecilia Rollins Brown Bag Film & Discussion Series: “Training Rules"
Start Date: 3/27/2014Start Time: 11:30 AM
End Date: 3/27/2014End Time: 1:00 PM

Event Description
On the occasion of Women’s History Month, the CECILIA ROLLINS BROWN BAG LUNCH FILM AND DISCUSSION SERIES will host the film “Training Rules” on Thursday, March 27, 2014, at 11:30 AM in the Mountainlair’s Gluck Theater. The film examines how a wealthy athletic department, enabled by the silence of a complacent university, allowed talented athletes who were thought to be gay, to be dismissed from their college team, and serves as a wake-up call to the many athletic departments nationwide that still discriminate against their student athletes and coaches.
In 2009, director Dee Mosbacher received the Philadelphia Cinema Alliance Barbara Gitting Award, which honors her commitment to social change, tolerance, acceptance, and transformation through film, and her mission to educate and impact change. The film focuses on these individuals and investigates why organizations, established to protect these athletes have done so little to end this common form of victimization.
This program is sponsored by the WVU Office of Multicultural Programs and the Office of International Student Affairs and Global Services and will be presented by Lauren Deckelbaum, GTA in in Women's & Gender Studies. The event is free and open to the public. Pizza will be served on a first come, first served basis. For more information, call the Office of Multicultural Programs at 304-293-0890 or visit our Website at http://studentlife.wvu.edu/office_of_multicultural_programs/upcoming_programs.
