Event Description This lecture from the 2013 Women's & Gender Studies Resident Scholar, Dr. Sondra Hale, will examine the role of gender and memory in the conflict zones of the Middle East and North Africa (MENA). It will delve into the strategies used for corrupting memory, such as annihilating culture, forcing one group’s practices on another, dislocating people from their homeland and/or forcing them to live among different ethnic groups, and alienating land.
