Event Description
Author and Nationally Recognized Anti-bullying Expert To Speak at WVU

Walter G. Meyer, author of three published books, will speak on his last book, “Rounding Third,” on Oct. 8 at 7 p.m. in the Gluck Theatre as part of WVU’s observance of LGBTQ History Month and anti-bullying month. Meyer’s “Rounding Third” has received raving reviews as he powerfully addresses how to combat bullying and LGBTQ issues.
As a victim or bullying and hiding a crush on one of baseball teammates, Meyer digs into the beginnings of his story and creates a mosaic with others’ journeys in “Rounding Third.” Although the characters and the town are fictional, the incidents in the book are all true.
Meyer, born in the Pittsburgh suburb of Bethel Park and a Penn State alumnus said, “I feel a special connection to Morgantown. My brother and nephew are both WVU alums. Having grown up, not that far away in Pittsburgh’s southern suburbs, I know the area and the culture well.”

The Program is hosted by the WVU Office of Multicultural Program’s Cecilia Rollins Brown Bag Film & Discussion Series.

Meyer has written hundreds of articles about bullying and tolerance for dozen of newspapers and magazines including the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, the Orange County Register, San Diego Union-Tribune, and numerous web sites. He has been a guest on NPR’s Pittsburgh affiliate WESA, and has created webinars on workplace bullying.

This event is free and open to public. A reception and book signing will follow Meyer’s presentation. For more information, contact the Office of Multicultural Programs at 304.293-0890 or view Mr. Meyer’s work at WalterGMeyer.com.
