The Appalachian Scholars Contest celebrates the diverse voices and scholarship of WVU students. Open to all WVU students, the contest invites creative and research-based submissions that connect with issues, stories, and perspectives from the Appalachian region.

Students may submit one original work for one of the three categories—Creative Works, Research & Scholarship, Share your Science—by Friday, October 3, 2025. First place in each category will receive $300, an award certificate, a recognition during Mountaineer Week, and a recognition on the SpeakWrite website.
