The mission of the Minorities in Agriculture and Related Sciences (WVU MARS) is to provide an environment conducive to the holistic development of minority students and allies pursuing careers in Agriculture, Natural Resources and related sciences. A primary objective of this organization is to foster a sense of community and belonging for students (undergraduate and graduate) within the WVU Davis College of Agriculture, Natural Resources and Design. M.A.R.S. is dedicated to the Academic, Professional and Personal advancement of Davis College Minority students, by providing the necessary resources, community collaborations and networking experiences.

The purpose of the "Discovering MARS Research Symposium" is to highlight the academic merit and scholarly research of minority students and allies within the fields of Agriculture and Related Sciences.

We also hope to expand the individual research interests and skills of both undergraduate and graduate students at West Virginia University.

Additionally, we aim to increase research self-efficacy levels of newly emerging and seasoned researchers by providing a supportive community and academic mentorship through strategic workshops and innovative opportunities. This symposium will be open to students of all ethnicities, religion, and academic backgrounds that are focused on the holistic transformations of communities and social societies through innovative ideas and opportunities that promote positive development.
