The West Virginia University Industrial Extension has teamed up with the  New River Gorge Regional Development Authority (NRGRDA) to offer a series of low-cost training courses to be held in Beckley in the first quarter of 2023. The classes will be offered to business owners, employees, and individuals in the counties represented by NRGRDA and the WV Hive including Summers, Nicholas, Fayette, Raleigh, Webster, Pocahontas, Greenbrier, Monroe, Mercer, Wyoming, McDowell, Mingo, and Logan County.

Lean 101: An Introduction to Lean Manufacturing

Participants first work in a chaotic, traditional manufacturing environment building Lego airplanes. Then, through systematic implementation of Lean concepts learned via presentations throughout the day, the participants will transition the factory to a modern lean facility. Throughout the day participants will experience the dramatic improvement in productivity and profitability that typically result from lean implementation.
