Title: A brief introduction to Hyperbolic Geometry
Abstract: Hyperbolic geometry is often something discussed in board strokes, but specifics are often avoided. This seminar will formalize some of the ideas of hyperbolic geometry including hyperbolic distances and transformations. We’ll begin by examining the half-plane model of hyperbolic geometry, then extend these ideas to the Poincaré disc model, drawing comparisons with familiar Euclidean geometry concepts along the way. This talk will be accessible to graduate and undergraduate students.
