This training, developed by experts in the Carruth Center, the CARE Team, and WELLWVU, focuses on explaining why the promotion ofmental health is so important on a college campus and how every member of the WVU community plays a role. Participants will learn about effective listening, get an in-depth look at the campus services available to students, and be able how to practice to safely intervene with students who are in distress.  

Courtney Weaver, Ph.D., M.Ed., CPH, has been the Director of WELLWVU since August of 2019. Previously, she worked for 8 years at Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton, FL. She holds graduate degrees in human sexuality education, but has a passion for health equity, particularly in the realm of mental health. Her goal is for all students to have the skills to be healthy, responsible, and successful.
