About this Event
The NASA IV&V Facility Education Resource Center, NASA Robotics Alliance, and Fairmont State University are hosting the Northeast Regional Aerial Drone Competition at Fairmont State University, May 17-18, 2024 for 60 teams traveling to our campus from Maine to Kentucky.
This year’s theme is Eclipse, where students will pilot their done (indoors) through a series of hoops, move objects with their downdraft, and strategically land on targets. Additionally, there is an autonomous challenge as well as a judged flight logbook and interview. Top teams will earn awards based on their performance and the thoroughness of their logbook and quality of their interview.
You can learn more about the program here https://recf.org/aerial-drone-competition/
We are seeking volunteers at the Falcon Center for several roles including:
There is no prior experience needed to serve as a judge, but you will be on your feet for both days while talking to students in their “pit space”. This role requires you to serve both days 8:30 am – 6:30 pm. I find this role especially engaging as we get to speak with all the students and get to learn more about their own aspirations and interests… and we have a chance to recruit them to pursue STEM Careers!
Staff shirts and all meals are provided, including a demonstration of NASA’s Dragonfly Drone, a barbeque, bonfire, and bluegrass on Friday night.
You can review the schedule and sign up as a volunteer here: https://www.wvrobot.org/events/adc-2024
