The information at the Career Development workshop will include an overview of the job search process for international students in the US. This includes understanding cultural differences, difficulties associated with legal status and employment authorization, effective strategies for networking and finding employment in the US, and job search resources for international students.
The OPT/CPT workshop will give students an overview of the different types of employment available to them as international students. This includes part-time work, OPT, CPT, STEM OPT Extensions, and regulatory restrictions for work on/off-campus.
Students who are considering applying for OPT/CPT and/or are in the search of employment are strongly encouraged to attend both sessions in order to gain background knowledge about the OPT/CPT process and also career advising specific to international students in the U.S.
