DESCRIPTION:This course is designed for individuals interested in teaching 
 the 10 and 30-hour general industry safety and health Outreach training pr
 ogram to their employees and other interested groups. Using the OSHA Gener
 al Industry Standards as a guide\, special emphasis is placed on those top
 ics required in the 10- and 30-hour programs as well as those which are mo
 st hazardous. Students are briefed on effective instructional approaches a
 nd use of visual aids and handouts. This course allows the student to beco
 me a trainer in the OSHA Outreach Training Program\, to conduct both 10- a
 nd 30-hour General Industry Outreach classes\, and to issue cards to parti
 cipants after verifying course completion. Students who wish to participat
 e as authorized trainers in the OSHA Outreach Training Program must prepar
 e a presentation on an assigned OSHA General Industry Outreach Training Pr
 ogram topic individually or as part of a group and successfully pass a wri
 tten exam at the end of the course.\n\nMinimum student contact hours: 26\n
 \nPrerequisites:\n\nCourse #511 completed within the last seven years.Five
  years of general industry safety experience.A bachelor of higher college 
 degree in occupational safety and health or industrial hygiene by an accre
 dited college or university\, a Certified Safety Professional (CSP)\, or C
 ertified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) designation\, in the applicable traini
 ng area may be substituted for two years of experience.Students in Course 
 #501 who wish to participate as authorized trainers in the Outreach Progra
 m must successfully pass both a written and performance based exam at the 
 end of the course.\n\nOutreach trainers are required to attend Course #503
  at least once every four years to maintain their trainer status.\n\nOSHA
