Location: Mary F. Shipper Library, Rm G6

Take an inspiring look at the Appalachian Trail—not just as a scenic hike but as a symbol of our responsibility to protect and preserve the natural world. Explore how trails serve as gateways to conservation, their vital role in connecting people with nature, and how they can inspire meaningful careers in forestry and environmental stewardship.
In this two-part presentation, Steve Oberlechner, Professor of English at WVU Potomac State College, will talk about his experiences hiking on the Appalachian Trail, and Champ Zumbrun, retired manager of Green Ridge State Forest and Adjunct Professor of Forestry at Garrett College, will talk about the role trails play in conservation. Whether you're an outdoor enthusiast or considering a green career, discover how the path through the woods can lead to a future of impact.
