Summary: To help with organization of writing (whatever your major is), individuals often rely on reference/citation managers to build a library of significant papers, chapters, and books towards their area of expertise. These references/citation managers make building a Bibliography/References cited sections a breeze. Discover the benefits of using a citation manager to collect, format, organize, and share your research. Training sessions highlighting two reference managers will be offered concurrently, please use the list provided at the end of this document, to determine whether EndNote or Zotero is best for you.

EndNote Basic Citation Manager - EndNote Basic is a freely available online reference manager, an online counterpart to EndNote Desktop. It reduces the time you spend searching, updating, and cleaning your research and formatting documents. The version of EndNote Basic available at WVU as part of the Web of Science has thousands of styles and hundreds of filters and connection files. EndNote basic users can create an online library with up to 50,000 references and up to 2GB of attachments. Keep all your references and reference-related materials in a searchable personal library. Cite your references in word processing documents to create formatted citations and bibliographies or independent reference lists. Use EndNote Basic to create a personal database of references to articles, books and other research sources. You can access EndNote Basic by clicking on the “Databases” tab on the library’s homepage https://library.wvu.edu/ and then type in EndNote Basic to search.Create an account to begin. You must be on campus or connected to the campus network through VPN to create an account. To learn more about EndNote Basic, students can download the Quick Reference Guide to EndNote Basic using this link: https://endnote.com/wp-content/uploads/m/pdf/en-online-qrc.pdf Please contact librarian Virginia Desouky at Virginia.Desouky@mail.wvu.edu if you have any questions ahead of the workshop.
