Student-Centered Language for a Positive Classroom Climate

Join us for this workshop session with Ron Reaser (Statler College, Lane Department of Computer Science and Electrical Engineering) on creating a positive classroom climate. The language we use in our classroom and curriculum profoundly impacts our students and their chances for academic success. This workshop offers a chance to learn and practice student-centered language and revise your curriculum and communications to improve your classroom climate. We’ll discuss positive and negative classroom climate, student-centered learning, and controlling vs. inviting language.

Please bring a copy of one of your course documents such as a syllabus or assignment for the hands-on activities. Both new instructors and experienced instructors who are looking to refresh their approaches will find the workshop activities valuable. .
