Dr. Alexis Kuerbis is an Associate Professor at Silberman School of Social Work at Hunter College of the City University of New York. She is a licensed clinical social worker with 20 years of experience in a variety of clinical, public health and social services settings and specializing in substance abuse treatment. Dr. Kuerbis’ research focuses on two major areas. The first is mechanisms of behavior change for problem drinkers--both within brief treatments (e.g., motivational interviewing, cognitive behavioral therapy) and social service interventions (e.g., case management) and outside treatment settings.
