Open to adult beginners, high school students, and young professionals who are seeking performance experience within a jazz ensemble. Eligible instruments: keyboard, drums, saxophone, trombone, trumpet, guitar, electric, and upright bass. 

Participants in the Jazz Ensemble will learn standard jazz repertoire through collaboration. The focus for the rhythm section will be exploring swing, Latin, Bossa, and funky grooves and how to comp with these rhythmic styles. For the horn players the focus will be on playing solo, which will include exploring harmonic structure and practicing how to interact with a live rhythm section. All the musicians will learn how to play music with lead sheets, basic jazz harmony, and as a group. This will all happen in an open, accessible, and fun environment so players of all ages and experience levels are encouraged to join. There will be an end-of-the-term performance for family members, friends, and colleagues to attend and support the artistic work of the group.
