Hope is an inclination towards the future: to building new work, new ideas, and better futures. As a disposition, hope necessarily involves critical thinking as well as joy, analysis, and creativity. Join WVU Department of English's Dr. Rose Casey as she talks about "The Procession," a collection of over 100 bright, brilliant sculptures by British-Guyanese sculptor and visual artist Hew Locke. Dr. Casey will describe how "The Procession" addresses climate change in Guyana and colonial legacies in the Caribbean. And she will share the hope that she experienced when she encountered this exhibition in London in 2022.

When: Thursday, February 5, 2026 | 4:00pm - 5:30pm

Where: Downtown Library, Milano Reading Room

Light refreshments will be available and this event is free and open to the public. No registration is required, but is encouraged for planning purposes.
