Abstract
Quantum Computing promises to offer advances in medicine, material science, machine learning & AI, and cybersecurity. Minimizing vaccine side-effects through personalized medicine, better batteries for electric cars, optimizing supply chains, and strengthening cybersecurity are among the many applications of quantum computing. Many are surprised that we will begin to have commercial applications such as these in only 1-2 years. In this presentation I will give the history of quantum computing, the technologies used to build such machines, applications and use cases, and the current commercial overview.
Biography
Dr. Mark Jackson is the Senior Quantum Evangelist at Quantinuum. He received his B.S. in Physics and Mathematics from Duke University and Ph.D. in Theoretical Physics from Columbia University. He then spent 10 years researching superstring theory and cosmology, co-authoring almost 40 technical articles. He is Adjunct Faculty at Singularity University, a Director of Astronomers Without Borders, and an Entrepreneur-In-Residence at Yale Ventures.
