 puting promises to offer advances in medicine\, material science\, machine
  learning & AI\, and cybersecurity. Minimizing vaccine side-effects throug
 h personalized medicine\, better batteries for electric cars\, optimizing 
 supply chains\, and strengthening cybersecurity are among the many applica
 tions of quantum computing. Many are surprised that we will begin to have 
 commercial applications such as these in only 1-2 years. In this presentat
 ion I will give the history of quantum computing\, the technologies used t
 o build such machines\, applications and use cases\, and the current comme
 rcial overview.\n\nBiography\n\nDr. Mark Jackson is the Senior Quantum Eva
 ngelist at Quantinuum. He received his B.S. in Physics and Mathematics fro
 m Duke University and Ph.D. in Theoretical Physics from Columbia Universit
 y. He then spent 10 years researching superstring theory and cosmology\, c
 o-authoring almost 40 technical articles. He is Adjunct Faculty at Singula
 rity University\, a Director of Astronomers Without Borders\, and an Entre
 preneur-In-Residence at Yale Ventures.
