Tower of Power, led by Detroit-born tenor saxophonist Emilio Castillo, has been delivering the best in funk and soul music since 1968. Their “Oakland soul” sound – with its window-rattling grooves and raucous party spirit – has been a balm for the soul since the release of “East Bay Grease.” Their hits include “You’re Still a Young Man,” “Down to the Nightclub,” “So Very Hard to Go” and “What is Hip.” They have traveled the world enjoying not only their hit singles but also backing legendary artists Otis Redding, Elton John, Santana, the Grateful Dead, John Lee Hooker, Aerosmith, Bonnie Raitt and countless others.

This performance is part of the University Arts Series.
