Reflecting on the idea that the body is a ‘living’ medium that participates in the cultivation of image, Sidharta draws heavily from family archives, oral storytelling and abstract morphologies of Indonesian landscapes and history. The Delfts Blue tiles, together with her sculpted collages and decorative works, reclaim lost narratives through a fragmented presence, in which pictures can be ‘read’ like multiple streams of consciousness that occur simultaneously, without ever defining the beginning or end of the story. Inspired by Indonesia's spiritual affinity with relics, plants and natural phenomena, the installation takes the form of a shrine or portal, where the paintings evoke personal and collective bonds of history - the embodiment of the internal and the external, the corporeal and the mental.
