DESCRIPTION:The final WVUniverse talk of 2025 will be held on December 12th
and will feature Graham Doskoch\, a graduate student in the West Virginia
University (WVU) Department of Physics and Astronomy and the Center for G
ravitational Waves and Cosmology.\n\nWith a deep dive into the history of
radio astronomy\, Doskoch will discuss how the space shuttles changed the
course of study in the field of radio astronomy.\n\nGraham is currently as
graduate student working toward his PhD in astronomy\, under advisor Prof
. Maura McLaughlin. He works on pulsar timing as part of the NANOGrav coll
aboration. He is currently studying a collection of less-well understood n
eutron stars called rotating radio transients\, or RRATs\, which erratical
ly emit individual pulses.\n\n"A Hole over Hobart: How the Space Shuttle h
elped push the limits of Radio Astronomy" is free and open to all ages.\n\
nWVUniverse talks are general audience\, outreach talks that explore diffe
rent fields of astronomy like cosmology\, instrumentation\, astrobiology\,
planetary science and more. \n\nAfter each talk\, a fun Kahoot quiz is of
fered and the lucky winner walks away with a prize. \n\n"A Hole over Hobar
t: How the Space Shuttle helped push the limits of Radio Astronomy" is fre
e and open to all ages. All are welcome.\n\nDecember 12\, 2025\n\n6:30 PM
